Abstract

The General Manuscript File Collection consists of 26 boxes of correspondence and other manuscript materials from notable individuals, dating from 1667, 1727, and 1735 to 2012, acquired individually by the department from various sources over several decades.

Abstract Edoardo Sanguineti (1930-2010) taught at various Italian universites after receiving his doctorate at the University of Turin. He published poetry, novels, opera libretti, and critical essays on Dante, twentieth-century authors and literary movements. During his formative years he wrote this collection of some one hundred letters to fellow Italian Gianna Sommi before she moved to the United States to study at Cornell University on a Fulbright scholarship in 1957.
